I JUST GOT MA'AMED! UGGGGH!!!

I’ll never forget the very first time it happened. I was at a grocery store. I had a bag of overpriced lettuce, some blueberries and one of those half cakes that always seem so tempting because they lessen the shame of buying a whole cake to eat by myself. Anyway, I was checking out and the cashier said it. “Ma’am, do you need any assistance to your car today?” I thought to myself, “Did that just happen? Did she just use the M word? Did I just get ma’amed?” I really tried to chalk it up as politeness, but it kept happening over and over again. People were dropping ma’am on me. “Hello ma’am.” “Can I help you ma’am?” “Yes ma’am.” Ma’am! Ma’am! Ma’am! I fought it as long as I could, but I had to finally accept the fact that I was a ma’am. Ugh. Since the “ma’am” incident, I’ve become more diligent about using my age-fighting products. And by diligent, I really mean obsessed. I even keep a bottle of the TimeWise® Targeted-Action® Eye Revitalizer in my nightstand so I can put it on as soon as I wake up each morning. It gets rid of the eye puffiness before I’m out the door to work. Honestly, I really don’t mind aging gracefully as long as I look my age. Ok, actually slightly younger than my age. Ok, 5-7 years younger than my age to be exact. Needless to say, when I stumbled upon the book 7 Years Younger, I finally understood why someone would curl up with a good book on a rainy Sunday afternoon instead of just taking a nap. (I place a high value on sleep.) 7 Years Younger is published by Hearst and is a New York Times Best Seller. The book takes an in-depth look at anti-aging, addressing common concerns like skincare, makeup and fitness. In the skincare section, Mary Kay® TimeWise® Replenishing Serum+C is recommended as a top anti-aging serum. It was tested by women volunteers in the Good Housekeeping Research Institute beauty lab and at home. We all grow older. I get that. And I truly see the blessing in having some decades in my rearview mirror. And, yes, it still breaks my heart just a little any time someone calls me ma’am. But thanks to Mary Kay’s age-fighting products and the pictures that many of my classmates are posting on Facebook, at least I know that I still look pretty good for my age.
What’s your best beauty secret to looking younger? Leave a comment below, I LOVE sharing ideas.
